My name is Dr. Michael P. McDermott. I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. I’m a Board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who attended Creighton University undergraduate and Creighton’s Boyne School of Dental Science (1967- 1975). I did a General Practice Residency at Wright-Patterson Medical Center USAF in Dayton, Ohio. This was followed by a stent in the U.S. Air Force and then by a surgical residency at Georgetown Medical Center in Washington, D.C.( finished in 1982). Subsequently, I moved back to Omaha to enter practice with a long standing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr Benjamin Lynch. He retired a few years later and I have continued to be involved with the practice of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. I belong to a number of organizations: Nebraska Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (past President), American Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Society of Implant Surgeons, the Nebraska Dental Association, and the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. I am a member of a number of local hospitals: Alegent-Bergan Mercy Medical Center, Methodist Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Lakeside Hospital, and Omaha Surgical Center.
At present, I am a member of the Douglas County Board of Health and the Advisory Board to the Dean of Creighton’s Dental School. Further, I am a member of the Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Team and the Dr Dobleman Head-Neck Cancer Team. I have been married over thirty years and have three children and two grandchildren.
